OK so the New Year has rolled around again which is the perfect time to reflect and to do some forward thinking.
My downtime got me thinking about the last two years and how the need for personal branding has literally exploded. Businesses that were not online were suddenly scrambling to get their online shops up and their social media noticed.
And even if you had an online presence, the true value in images that really allow you to connect with your audience became instantly real.
Heck, I even used my lockdown time to give my own website an overhaul and create my own personal brand photos – I was quite literally practicing what I preach!
So yes, in case you’re wondering, brands can get stale.
Just as you evolve so does your personal brand! And the New Year (or a lockdown or two) is the perfect time to assess whether you need to go ahead and up the ante.
The good news is you don’t need to reinvent your brand completely to keep it fresh and exciting.
Visuals play an integral role in the health of your brand and they are one of the easiest things to update too.
But how do you know whether your brand is starting to look a little rough around the edges?
Here are some signs that it’s time to update your brand images:
1. Your goals and values have changed
If you’ve decided to take a different route with your business or brand (an many of us had this “Aha” moment over the last two years), you need images than reflect revised goals and values.
2. You have changed
Do you still look the same as you once did? If you want customers to trust you then your photos should match what they see in person.
3. There is a lack of consistency
Perhaps you recently updated your website and logo – do your branding photos still match these new designs? Creating a more consistent image is essential for building customer trust.
4. There’s no story
Branding and stories go hand in hand. If your images aren’t telling a clear story, it’s time for an update.
5. Your images don’t stand out
Headshots and standard product images are a dime a dozen – how do your images stand out? If there is nothing truly unique and memorable about your brand images, now is the right time to update them.
So, are your images missing the mark, or are they on target for the year ahead?
