Here are some simple guidelines on attire and grooming for your photoshoot.
For the Girls
- Dress in laundered and well fitting attire – if you are wanting to go for the more corporate look, a skirt/pant suit with top/blouse or dress with fitted jacket will work well. If casual is more your branding style then a well fitting top or blouse teamed with pants or jeans will look great.
- Consider having an outfit with sleeves – in my experience most females prefer images when they are dressed in an outfit covering at least the upper arm. But hey, if you love your arms, show them off!
- Sometimes wearing turtlenecks can give the appearance of a ‘floating head’ in an image so I always suggest a scoop or V-neck for tops. If you aren’t particularly fond of your décolletage then bring along a scarf.
- Avoid heavily patterned pieces or clothing with logos (unless it’s your business logo) as these can date very easily and are also distracting – block colours of mid to dark tones will work best.
- Jewellery is a lovely addition, but my advice is to avoid chunky or overly trendy pieces, as these can easily date the image.
- Feel free to bring a couple of outfits with you. There will be time to change up your look if you want to get both a corporate and more of a casual look!
- Ensure hair is neat and styled and bring along your hairbrush/comb as I will no doubt touch up as I conduct the shoot.
- If you normally wear make up, I recommend to apply it (particularly foundation and powder) a little heavier than you would normally wear but please avoid using mineral makeup or makeup with light reflecting properties as this can cause flash back shine under studio lights. Also bring your make up for any touch ups required.
For the Boys
- Dress in laundered and well fitting attire – if you are wanting to go for the more corporate look, a well fitting suit with collared shirt (with and/or without tie) is a great choice. If casual is more your branding style then a well fitting shirt or t-shirt/polo teamed with a jacket and pants or jeans will look great.
- Avoid heavily patterned pieces or clothing with logos (unless it’s your business logo) as these can date very easily and are also distracting – block colours of mid to dark tones will work best.
- Feel free to bring a couple of outfits with you. There will be time to change up your look if you want to get both a corporate and a casual look!
- Ensure your hair is neat and styled and bring along your hairbrush/comb as I may have to touch up as I conduct the shoot. You may like to consider having your hair trimmed a few days before the shoot.
- If you are clean-shaven ensure you shave before the session and if you have facial hair it’s a good idea to get a trim before the shoot.
- Please be aware that I may use a light facial makeup powder on you, particularly if your skin appears shiny in the image. This power can be easily removed after the shoot.]
For Groups
- Consider the guidelines above.
- Try to all dress in a similar colour palette for consistency because if one person in the group is dressed in vibrant coloured clothing, it can make them stand out from the group and this can be distracting to the eye.
- Avoid heavily patterned pieces or clothing with logos (unless it’s your business logo).
- If the group is a corporate team then block colours of black, navy and grey for suiting and white, blue and pastels for shirts and blouses are preferred.
