If the thought of being in front of a camera makes you want to crawl under your desk….you’re definitely not the only one.
I’ve lost count of how many incredible people have told me they “just don’t photograph well”. But here’s the truth: no one is born knowing how to look relaxed and confident in photos. it’s not a talent – it’s a skill. And it’s one you can absolutely learn.
Confidence Isn’t About Vanity
I get it – posing can feel awkward, even performative.
But confidence in photos isn’t about ego.
It’s about alignment.
When your photos feel like the real you – not a stiff version of you trying to look ‘professional” – that’s when you start attracting the right people.
Because they can see you.
Small Tweaks, Big Difference
There are a few simple things you can do that completely change how confident your look (and feel) in front of the lens.
I’m not talking about major makeovers or complicated posing tricks – just tiny adjustments that shift your energy and help the camera see your best side.
Like learning how to:
- engage your posture so you look naturally poised, not rigid,
- find the sweet angle that flatters your jawline (without the dreaded chin tuck),
- and create easy movement so your body looks relaxed rather than “frozen mid-pose.”
Even small tweaks like these can turn an anxious “please make it quick” moment into something that actually feels enjoyable.
(yes, really!)
The Real Secret? Practice – With Kindness
Confidence doesn’t appear out of nowhere: it builds with practice.
And the trick is to approach it with a sense of play, not pressure.
Try testing a few poses or expressions in the mirror (or on your phone camera) with your favourite music on.
Notice what feels natural, what feels “off”, and what brings out that spark!
It’s not about perfection – its about familiarity.
The more comfortable you are seeing yourself, the more confident you’ll look when someone else is behind the lens.
